The summer is wrapping up and so is this OOTD series... I wanted to close this out with the floral jumpsuit I picked up a couple months ago.Read More
It's already a whole week into August. Summer is slipping away quickly. Bloggers everywhere (or at least in this hemisphere) are already busting out their booties and sweaters. At the risk of being totally irrelevant, I want to share a few of my favorite outfits from summer 2017.Read More
Everywhere you look on Instagram lately you see boots and sweaters. I don't know where these influencers are, but where I'm at it is still 100 degrees. I blame the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale...Read More
These cupcakes are certainly not groundbreaking. They have been around for decades. My mother introduced me to these treats and her mother introduced them to her. However, if you have not made them, it is time to do so. These come together easily and deliciously every time. I have put a small spin on them here using dark chocolate cocoa powder and chocolate chips, but they are just as lovely with milk chocolate.Read More
Today it reached 120 degrees in Phoenix. I'm thrilled that I missed that blistering heat by only a week. Summer is in full swing in Oklahoma, as well. It is hot and humid, though fortunately not 120. Wildflowers are blooming and allergies are in full force as well.Read More
Call it my blogiversary, my birthday, or whatever you like! Sock Bun Wisdom is one today! I am definitely still small potatoes and have a looooong way to go. However, I've learned a lot and come quite a ways in 365 days! Here are some takeaways:
Protect your magic, don't quit your daydream, and always be a unicorn.Read More
This is definitely not the most flattering thing I've ever owned (maybe if I could kick my nacho habit it would fit better...)... But it's a seersucker romper with a tie front and ruffles, so who cares if it makes me look like I'm wearing a diaper? It's from my favorite store, Charming Charlie.Read More
I hope your Memorial Day weekend is off to a great start! It's easy to forget the reason for the holiday when your Instagram feed and your email inbox are brimming with sales and promos, all urging you to fill your wardrobe and empty your bank account. Let's take a minute to remember the real reason for the long weekend, the men and women who lost their lives protecting our freedom and serving our country. Thank you to our Armed Services, past and present, for your incredible dedication! Certainly feel free to score some cute clothes, soak up some sun at the lake, take a picnic... but be sure to remember our service men and women!
My puppy and I decided to take a picnic! We took dad along to work the camera! ;)
If you don't already know, this beautiful mutt is our fur baby, Ritzy Rae. Patrick and I adopted her from the Lexington Humane Society when she was just 10 weeks old. At that time, she weighed 24 pounds. Now she is 4 years old and weighs about 90 pounds. She's mellow, mopey, and magnificent. We just adore her.
How perfectly patriotic is this dress? Bell sleeves and cold shoulder? Rickrack and tassels? Sign me up.
I snagged it at Target for like 13 bucks, though it is still listed online for $27.99. It also comes in burnt orange with maroon trim.
It is casual, comfy, cute, and on trend! I think it would also be adorable over a baby bump if any mommies-to-be are looking for a cute dress for Memorial Day or the 4th!
OK, you caught me. The picnic basket in the previous photos was empty. >_<
However, I staged a picnic in my backyard for your benefit! I topped some Greek Gods Honey Strawberry yogurt with fresh berries. I also sliced some fresh mozzarella, halved some cherry tomatoes, and dressed some lettuce with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for a tasty take on caprese salad. I also want to give these Jalapeno Cornbread Crisps a shoutout! I stumbled upon them at Walmart and they are bomb.com!
These earrings are old as the hills. I have no idea where I got them. However, I do know that you can never have too many pearls.
My bag and shoes are vintage Charming Charlie, my favorite label.
So what are your plans for Memorial Day? Let me know in the comments!
If you follow me at all, you know that I am a tad obsessed with cacti. They are super trendy this season and they resonate with my soul since I was born and raised in Arizona. *Insert cactus emoji here*Read More
I'm a little late, but happy Cinco de Mayo! I'm all for a day that promotes tacos and tequila- I mean, a day that celebrates the Mexican army defeating the Frech in the Battle of Puebla!
But since you mentioned tacos...Read More
Though I wore a sweater today, we're teetering right on the tip of summer here in Oklahoma. Warm temps have been teasing me and bright colors have been tempting me! Charming Charlie has been tempting and teasing me too, with tons of terrific tropical pieces. We're talking fun florals, cheery colors, and beaky birds that make me want to head straight to the beach (or at least the pool).Read More
Though I don't usually eat it in the a.m., breakfast is arguably my favorite meal. Eggs, potatoes, and I get along extremely well. Mornings and I, however, do not jive. I find myself making breakfast foods for lunch on my days off and breakfast for dinner fairly regularly.

Additionally, eggs and avocados are two of my absolute favorite foods. I enjoy them in almost any fashion. They are rich, creamy, and flavorful. They are also packed full of protein and healthy fats, which has become more important to me since the husband and I went pescatarian about two months ago. I love when these two ingredients can star in my brunch or brinner.

Hey Sockbunners (Sockbunnies, for Easter?)! I wish I had something else to share with you today because I'm not a giant fan of this photo shoot. This shirt is one of my faves- so fun and flattering!- but it was no match for the Oklahoma wind when we shot these. Clearly, neither was my hair... Oh well though, let's get through this quick, like tearing off a band-aid! Hopefully, I'll have some more beautiful content to share with you next week!
Like I was saying, this top is one of my favorites. The ruffled sleeves with the cold shoulder and the modified halter neckline are perfect. It's a light crepe material and fortunately it is not sheer sheer at all, so it pairs well with a strapless bra or with a cute, exposed bralette. Naturally, it is from Charming Charlie. It comes in pale blue and a rich dark olive. I almost bought it BOTH colors because I love it so much. The blue is only available in XL online right now, but the olive is available in all sizes.
The best part? TODAY ONLY Charming Charlie is running 40% off all apparel in stores and online! Y'all, this is HUGE! With this discount, this top is only $15! Score!
I am always a sucker for pearls and I thought they would suit the flirty femininity of this top. This pendant, bracelet, and studs are all from Charming Charlie.
P.S. How cool is this stone staircase? It is located near Little Baldy and the Quanah Parker Lake dam in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge!

Hey y'all. Long time no blog. I've been spending most of my free time outdoors and away from my computer, enjoying this beautiful weather we've been having! Plus, I have seriously been procrastinating on this post... As I expected, this dish is way easier to make than it is to write about. Thai fried rice is in my regular meal rotation. It is quick, easy, fragrant, and flavorful. Though the ingredient list is long, I usually have most of these ingredients in my pantry. It is vegetarian (though it is also tasty with chicken or shrimp) and gluten free (if made with tamari). You can easily modify this recipe to suit your needs.Read More
